About Us

Aloha, I'm Andrea, the founder of Knotty Strings jewelry. I grew up in San Diego and have always been fascinated by the ocean. I also spent most of my free time creating, whether that was in the kitchen, in the craft room, or outside in the yard. Two years ago I moved to Oahu and began noticing the beautiful treasures along the shores of the North Shore beaches. I couldn't help myself and soon became a sea glass lover who was obsessed with collecting it. I collected jars full and would go out any time, rain or shine hunting for these sea gems. 

With so much sea glass I decided to started using it in my projects and slowly worked my way into using it in my jewelry. I absolutely love spending time making each piece of jewelry and sharing a love for sea glass with my customers.

Each piece of sea glass is hand picked and unique. No two pieces are alike in shape or color and that is what makes sea glass so amazing. The glass has been churned again and again in the ocean for years, giving it a smooth and glowing appearance. All shells used, I dove or went shelling for in the big blue. No shells were taken from the ocean that were still alive as I believe in respecting the ocean and its creatures.

Knotty Strings is now based out of San Diego, but all the shells and sea glass products made come from my adventurous days in Hawaii. Thank you so much for supporting my handcrafted small business.
